Master Taxidermist & Award-Winning Craftsman

OUR STORY

Gary Powell is a master taxidermist with 38 years of experience, known for his exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to the art. Throughout his career, he has achieved the highest levels of recognition, earning national blue ribbons in multiple categories as well as the prestigious NTA Award of Excellence.

Gary previously served as a certified judge for taxidermy competitions at the state, regional, national, and world levels. With a deep commitment to the craft, he has played a significant role in advancing industry standards and mentoring others in the field.

Beyond taxidermy, Gary is actively involved in community outreach and is passionate about supporting and promoting art in all its forms.

    Gary Powell Brings Nevada’s Bighorn Sheep Mascot to Life

    With donations from the Nevada Department of Wildlife, Elko Bighorns Unlimited and North Slope Taxidermy, a Nevada bighorn sheep, the GBC mascot, was recently mounted and installed in the foyer of the Carl A. Diekhans Center for Industrial Technology building. The mount was completed by Gary Powell of North Slope Taxidermy.
